qPCR System

ABI 7900 Real-Time PCR System: This system combines thermal cycling, fluorescence detection, and application-specific software to provide an integrated platform for the detection and quantification of nucleic acid sequences. Real-time PCR reactions run using 96-well plates, 384-well plates and TILDA cards and can be completed in under two hours. Access available under fee for service plan Service Details

Analytical Instruments for Sample Quality Assessment

NanoDrop ND-1000(s): We now have two of these extremely popular and sensitive spectrophotometers to measure nucleic acid (DNA and RNA) and protein concentrations, calculate microarray fluorescent dye concentrations and determine cell densities. The nanoDrop 1000 produces a full spectrum analysis from 1-2 microliters of undiluted samples, and is completed in 10 seconds. Open access available to lab use program members

Analysis workstation

GTC provides this analysis workstation for data analysis. They are loaded with software for microarray data analysis and qPCR data analysis. Software packages installed include Axon's GenePix Pro, Cluster, Acuity, TreeView and RQ Manager. Open access available to lab use program members

Microarray Scanners

Agilent Scanner: The Agilent DNA microarray scanner is a 48-slide scanning system that can scan any mix of 1 x 3” glass slide microarrays (both Agilent and non-Agilent) at 2 wavelengths (532 and 635). Open access available to lab use program members

Genepix Scanner: The Genepix DNA microarray scanner is a 1-slide scanning system that can scan any mix of 1 x 3” glass slide microarrays at 2 wavelengths (532 and 635). Open access available to lab use program members

Affymetrix Scanner: The Affymetrix DNA microarray scanner is a 48-slide scanning system that can scan only affymetrix microarrays at 1 wavelength. Operated by GTC staff only

Next-Generation Sequencers

Illumina Genome Analyzer (Formerly Solexa): The Genome Analyzer system is powered by Illumina Sequencing technology, which uses a massively parallel sequencing-by-synthesis approach to generate billions of bases of high-quality DNA sequence per run. This system can perform tens of millions of sequencing reactions in parallel at less than 1% the cost of capillary-based methods, dramatically transforming the scale, speed, and cost of your research. Operated by GTC staff only Service Details

Liquid Handling Robot

Beckman Biomek FX: To help out with repetitive pipettng tasks and manipulation of libraries that accompanies microarray production, a Beckman Biomek FX automation station is available to researchers. Operated by GTC staff only Service Details

Arrayers for Microarray Printing

OmniGrid100: The OmniGrid 100 microarrayer can print biological samples on standard sized glass slides, 100 slides at a time. Printing is from microtiter plates with 96 or 384 wells. A server arm allows up to 72 source plates to be used. Features are printed as 100 to 200 micron spots, size depending on tip type used. The positioning system is high speed and uses high-reliability brushless DC servo motors. The instrument is enclosed in a humidity controlled chamber. Operated by GTC staff only Service Details

Cartesian Technologies: The Cartesian system can hold up to 32 micro spotting pins, 50 slides and up to 50, 384-well microtiter plates providing the capacity to produce high-density microarrays with more than 20,000 DNA spots per slide. The PixSys 5500 is a multi-axis microarrayer that prints biological samples onto 25mm x 75mm glass substrates. Operated by GTC staff only Service Details
